Solstugan (translated 'The Sun Cabin') is located in the district Kristineberg on Kungsholmen, a bit outside the city center of Stockholm. Only open during the warmer months, this rooftop bar and restaurant is somewhat of an institution in the Stockholm summer, recently turning 95 years old.
More a cabin then a classic Stockholm rooftop bar, but thanks to location up on the cliffs, Solstugan still offers quite high and lovely sea views over Lake Mälaren. Apart from indoor restaurant, Solstugan also has two terraces.
One, called 'The Calm Terrace' has a covering roof and is always heated to 21 degrees celsius. The other one is called 'The Music Terrace', and apart from nightly live music, this terrace is more airy and perfect for enjoying sunny days and nights (even though it actually also has a retractable roof for rainy days).
Here you can enjoy a wide variety of food for both lunch and dinner, like burgers, sallad, BBQ and seafood, along with all the classic and refreshing drinks you can think of.
Expect a very friendly and unpretentious atmosphere, with the setting of a colorful summer cabin in the city. And while the roof terrace is not that famous among tourists, it is a very popular destination among those who live in Stockholm, so come early if you want a good spot.
