Thompson hotel's can be found all across North America, and since 2015 also on Quinta Avenida in Playa del Carmen. And this is not just a luxurious place to stay, it is also home to a truly impressive rooftop setting.
The top floor of Thompson Playa del Carmen holds two rooftop restaurants, a bar & lounge, a dayclub and a smashing rooftop infinity pool, all surrounded with panoramic views of the Mexican Caribbean, stretching as far as Cozumel.
One of the two restaurants is Alessia Rooftop Restaurant, with a stylish and spacious open-air dining room where you can enjoy globally influenced, locally sourced cuisine every night. Later on, the space transforms into one of Playa del Carmen’s premier nightlife destination, with live DJs and a generous drinks menu.
The second rooftop restaurant, Cinco, offers a more casual rooftop pool side atmosphere. Serving a Yucatán-inspired menu daily as both breakfast and lunch, Cinco also offers a weekend rooftop brunch, featuring a 4-course menu, live stations with fresh sushi bar and ceviche, as well as bottomless mimosas.
To enjoy drinks and bites with a dip in the rooftop pool, a visit at the Alessia Dayclub is the answer. As an outside visitor you need to buy a day-pass, which is $650 MXN on weekdays and $850 MXN on weekends. So not for free, but most of the cost can be truned into food and beverage consumption, and you get to enjoy a refreshing and top-class rooftop experience.
