On top of the Sonder The Beacon (used to be Shangri-La Hotel) in Santa Monica you find ONYX Rooftop Bar, Santa Monicas only indoor-outdoor rooftop bar, offering amazing views over the Pacific, the beach and the pier.

From the rooftop bar you can enjoy a long and carefully curated drink menu, along with a nice selection of bar bites.

During afternoon and early night, the atmosphere at the rooftop is more of a casual beachside bar, perfect for some bites, drinks and views after a day on the beach.

After 8pm the mood changes, turning more into lounge/nightclub, meaning two things: A live DJ will probably show up and raise the atmosphere, and a more strict smart casual dress code applies. So dress smartly if you want to blend in and dance the night away at a rooftop party in Los Angeles.

Recommended time to visit the ONYX roof terrace is however earlier in the night, when you can enjoy weekday happy hour between 4-6pm and also, the absolutely amazing sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
