Located in Kramerville, Sir James van der Merwe is one of the most stunning venues in all of Johannesburg. Situated in a converted warehouse space, it is part of Katy's Palace Bar, and the venues are mostly used as event spaces, but every Wednesday night Sir James opens up to the public and becomes the perfect spot for after work drinks.
With a mix of minimalist glass-and-metal design and a large collection of retro-items, Sir James van der Merwe feels large and open on the inside, but also comes with a real open-air terrace, offering impressive views over the Sandton skyline.
Wednesday nights from 4pm onwards, Sir James rooftop serves a trendy, hip and lively atmosphere, complemented with a fully stacked bar, bottles of champagne and tasty buffet-style snack boards.
A popular spot among the young professionals in the area, Sir James van der Merwe is the place to be on any given Wednesday. From time to time they also host lots of cool and exciting events, so it is well worth keeping an eye out to see what is up next.
