Found in Howick, an eastern suburb of Auckland, Basalt offers a more casual and laid-back rooftop experience than many of the more posh downtown venues.

Covering two floors, Basalt offers a spacious downstairs dining room and bar, but it is the upstairs indoor / outdoor rooftop you want to head to for 180-degree views of the Howick skyline and the water.

The Basalt food menu is generous, including everything from bites and pizza to more filling pub-style mains. Drink-wise, there is everything from refreshing cocktails to a large selection of wine and beer.

With a fun and friendly atmosphere, the Basalt rooftop is a great spot to enjoy a lazy summer afternoon bite or sip as you watch the sun go down. But, it's also an eventful venue, offering everything from Quiz Night's and Drag Queen Bingo to Bottomless Brunch every first Saturday of the month.
