It's China's national day, October 1, and it's crowding with people at the People's Square in Shanghai. The darkness has just settled and the giant skyscrapers have been lit for everyone's view. We sit in the taxi that take us to our destinationVue Bar at The Hyatt on the Bund. A rooftop bar famous for its magical views of Shanghai’s skyline. Because of the crowd there where many police officers out there and for some reason they have shut down some of the streets.
Our taxi driver screams in Chinese and is increasingly annoyed that he is not moving forward. We try to communicate and ask if it is because he can’t stop the car at the destination or if he simply can’t find. Unfortunately, like many other Chinese, he can’t speak English and does not understand a word we say. After driving in the same circle for the second time, we decide to leave the taxi, pay and try to find on our own. We start walking in the direction of the taxi and decide to ask a police officer about the road. The first police do not understand, but the other speaks really good English and explains the way for us. We realize that we have about a quarter to go, but in comparison to sitting still in our taxi, this feels like a good choice. On the way to Vue Bar, we pass thousands of people who have gone out to celebrate the national day. It's not easy to get out of the crowd but finally we arrive at the Hyatt on the Bund. The building is a large hotel complex with a giant entrance hall. We ask for help to find out which of the lifts will take us up to Vue Bar.
Once in the hallway, we are welcomed and informed that our friends and the rest of the company are already in place. We first walk through the level where the VUE Restaurant is located. It is a classic European restaurant where they have managed to create an elegant home feeling. The decor has an eclectic style with transitions from hanging shelves with culinary small ornaments to bookshelves and sofas, along with collections of model cars, tubes, bottles and old cork screws. With the traditional continental kitchen, this is not just a place to hang out privately, but an ideal place for business and champagne brunches (offered on Sundays). Examples of food on the menu are "on-minute" - signature dishes such as Caesar Salad, Lobster Bisque, Beef Tartar and Crepe Suzette.
After passing through the restaurant, we walk up to the famous rooftop Vue Bar. There is an outdoor seating to some extent, although most of the room is under roof. It's quite a small place with many small cozy tables and low sofas placed in a circle that surrounds a smaller jacuzzi in the middle. It is quite dark in the room, and this is probably because you will better see the light from all the skyscrapers outside. We greet our friends who managed better than us to get through the traffic outside and fortunately be placed with the best view at Vue Bar. The amazing view offers a magnificent skyline on the other side of Huangpu River and on the opposite direction we could see the older parts of the city.
I sat down with the bar manager at Vue Bar called Philipp. A nice man who welcomes me and gladly answers my questions. He tells me about the different evenings arranged at the roof bar, opening hours and some facts, including that we are on floor 33, in the western tower of the hotel. I ask if there are many who usually bathe in the Jacuzzi and he starts laughing a bit for himself. - "It happens, but when it happens, only westerners do it. The Chinese themselves dare to just dip their feet."
After a while, I thank for the chat and return to my company. We have ordered a giant fruit plate surrounded by some delicious cocktails. We have also had some good mini hamburgers that suited perfect to the cocktails. We sit for a long time enjoying the wonderful views and our good drinks. It is almost hypnotic to look at the light installations on the giant skyscrapers. After a few hours, we will thank for us and head out in Shanghai at night. We highly recommend Vue Bar on the Bund and look forward to the next visit.

Cielo Rooftop - GothenburgSpherical Image - RICOH THETA
Cielo Rooftop Bar at the fairly newly opened Hotel Bellora is a roof bar we have our eyes on for a very long time. Ever since the premiere a few years ago, this place has received much attention - both in the media and among people. We went there to see if the hype lived up to the expectations.
Down in the lobby you will be struck by the stylish and modern decor. The same feeling seems to permeate the entire hotel and luckily, even the rooftop bar. We had reserved a table for 4 people with lounge sofas and views of the rooftops around the neighborhood. Immediately when we sat down, we ordered one Aperol Spritz each. A favorite drink that always is a perfect choice.
When we arrived at 4:00 PM, the terrace was already filled with people who would like to drink in the sun. We were lucky to have reserved the table, because almost all seats were already occupied. After the Aperol, we ordered a bottle of white wine. Cold and dry as it should be. To that, a better plate of charcuterie as we started to get a little hungry. The food and drinks were very good and the service top notch. Quick and attentive all the time. We never had to sit with empty glasses.
The atmosphere on the terrace was really nice and a live DJ played good music throughout the time we were there. One notice that many people come up here for some glasses, and then of to other places in the Gothenburg night. As mentioned - Cielo Rooftop is one of Gothenburg's and Sweden's best rooftop bars. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting or living in the city. Here you can find other rooftop bars in Gothenburg.

Memmo Alfama - LisbonSpherical Image - RICOH THETA
Memmo Alfama is a small and luxurious 5-star boutique hotel located close to the water in Lisbon. The rooftop is only located on the 2nd floor from the lobby, but still with a fantastic view because of the high location of the hotel.
We arrived here in the afternoon for something to drink. The terrace is very popular and there was only a couple of seats available when we came here. The rooftop is open to the public, but the rooftop swimming pool can only be used by the guests of the hotel. Our seats were just by the pool and with a great view over the Atlantic Ocean.
I ordered a glass of white wine and Ida had a classic Aperol Spritz. Refreshing and tasty. The atmosphere on the terrace was very harmonious and relaxed. Both the people, décor and feeling were in the same way. Service was quite fast and attentive which made the experience good.
All in all we liked Memmo Alfama very much. We can recommend this rooftop bar in Lisbon to everyone who’s visiting the city. Make sure to be here in good time or book your table in advance, to get a seat at the popular terrace. And don't forget to check out some other rooftop bars in Lisbon here.

Park Lisboa is one of the most famous and popular rooftop bars in Lisbon. It’s been around for several years and is a hotspot for people during the afternoons and evenings. We came here during a Friday afternoon around 6:00 PM and the terrace was packed with a mixed crowd, wanting to get a glimpse of the sunset and party friendly atmosphere.
Park Lisboa - LisbonSpherical Image - RICOH THETA
There are both one outdoor and indoor bar here. Both quite big and it’s easy to order even when it’s crowded. We ordered some white wine and beers. It was very hard to find a place to sit when arriving after 5:00 PM. But after a while we found a place where we could sit, right by the edge of the terrace. The views from here are fantastic. You’ll both get the sunset, ocean, bridge and skyline from here. Quite hard to beat!
The best thing about this rooftop – except the view – is the nice atmosphere. People in the ages from 20 – 70 gather here to enjoy everything the rooftop has to offer. There are both tourists, locals, families with small children and party goers. You can’t book a table here, so if you want to be guaranteed a nice place, you should try to come here early.
We liked park Lisboa very much. The atmosphere and views were top notch. The roof terrace is located on top of a parking garage, so it can be a little tricky to find the entrance. Just take the elevator to the top floor, from inside the parking garage. And don't forget to check out some other rooftop bars in Lisbon here.

We had our eyes on Silk Club for a long time and we were super excited to visit this rooftop, after some recommendations and by the looks of all pictures. Like always, we try to get both daylight, sunset and darkness when we visit rooftops. And this was no exception. Our table was set at 8:00 PM but we came for some drinks half an hour before, just to enjoy every bit of the terrace.
Silk Club - LisbonSpherical Image - RICOH THETA
We started with two glasses of cold white wine, while gasping out over the Atlantic Ocean and the rooftops of Lisbon. The terrace is quite small and with a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. This is a trendy place and people are well dressed and aware. The restaurant opens at 8:00 PM and we were ready right away. All dinner seats are inside with a roof over your head. But the area is open and it feels like your sitting outside because of the big opening to the terrace.
The restaurant here is Asian fine dining with super high quality of every raw material. You can order sushi, sashimi, dumplings, Kobe beef, salads, nigiri and much more. The hardest thing was to decide what to eat, so we agreed to try many different things from the menu. Drinks to that, Japanese beer and warm Sake. Here it goes:
I’m a very big fan of the Asian cuisine and I must say that the food here was superb. Everything tasted great and was served in nice and sophisticated way. The freshness and taste was something extra ordinary. I loved it! If you like the Japanese kitchen with a twist from other Asian countries, this is heaven for you! The price is quite high, but it’s worth every penny and you will have a dinner to remember for the rest of your life.
When the restaurant closes for the night, Silk Club turns into a night club where you can party with trendy people until 04:00 AM. So, if you like, you can have three different settings here. 1. Afternoon drinks to the sunset. 2. Fancy dinner in the evening. 3. A night out until the late hours. We settled with 1 and 2. We really recommend Silk Club to everyone that are going to Lisbon in the near future. This rooftop bar has it all! And don't forget to check out some other rooftop bars in Lisbon here.

Limão Chill-Out Terrace - LisbonSpherical Image - RICOH THETA
Limão Chill-Out Terrace has one of the best views in Lisbon. So, what better place than this, for some Portuguese tapas and drinks. Our table was set at 20:00, the perfect time for both daylight, sunset and darkness. This roof terrace is quite small, with two smaller VIP tables and some front row seats. In the rainy days (which is very uncommon) there are some sofas under the roof, close to the bar.
We got hold of one of the VIP tables and the view from here was absolutely magical. High up with sea and city view at the same time. Firstly, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco to share and some Portuguese tapas to eat. There was a lot of food. Cheeses, hams, fried seafood, fish, bread and much more. Perfect food for a rooftop bar. We like when you can sit in a relax way in your chair and eat some finger food while gasping out over the city.
The food was good, the Prosecco refreshing and service was spot on all the time. When our stomachs were full and the all the food almost eaten up, we decided to change seats to two of the front row chairs. The last hour, we sat here drinking our Prosecco and enjoying the view. The atmosphere was relaxed and harmonious all the time.
We liked Limão Chill-Out Terrace a lot. Cozy and luxurious at the same time. This is a perfect rooftop bar in Lisbon to bring your date to. It’s hard to get a more beautiful and romantic setting than this. Book your table in advance if you want to be guaranteed a good spot. And don't forget to check out some other rooftop bars in Lisbon here.

Memmo Principe Real is a newly opened hotel in Lisbon. It was an easy choice for us to choose this hotel. Mostly because of the lovely roof terrace – but also for the great service and location. The hotel is located in the trendy and lively area, Bairro Alto in the central parts of Lisbon. As soon as you enter the hotel, you’ll be met by the attentive and nice service. The staff are very helpful and polite.
The roof terrace is located at the second floor, same as the lobby and restaurant. The hotel is only 4 floors high, but located on top of a hill, which makes the view magnificent. The terrace is very long and with a breathtaking view over the rooftops of Lisbon. For the hotels guests, there’s a luxurious rooftop swimming pool to cool off in, and sun loungers to relax in. For the non-guests of the hotel, you can come here for drinks, lunch, dinner or just to chill out.
Memmo Principe Real - LisbonSpherical Image - RICOH THETA
We spent most of our time by the rooftop pool. The perfect way to start off your day. Every day after breakfast we took a morning swim while gasping out over Lisbon. At this time of the day, you can have the terrace and pool for yourself if you’re lucky. The atmosphere is always very relaxed and harmonious up here. In the evening, the volume is a little bit higher but still very sophisticated. Many people have dinner in the restaurant and some drinks at the terrace afterwards.
Given the fact that the hotel opened less than a year ago, all rooms here are very modern and luxurious. The 5-star standard makes it self present in everything from shampoo to the interior. All rooms have a view and some of them with majestic city views of Lisbon. If you like rooms with a view, make sure to ask for a room on a high floor. We sure did, and it was definitely worth it.
We arrived very late in the evening, but the staff had prepared some pastries and drinks for us at the room. Wine, own made Gin & Tonics and so forth. A lovely gesture and we felt at home right away. Beds are super comfortable and everything in the rooms feels well thought through and well combined. We even had a walk-in closet right next to the beautiful bathroom.
Firstly, the breakfast here is amazing. Fresh, healthy and made to perfection. We loved it! Specially the fresh berries with granola and yogurt. Juices, bread, coffee, ham, cheese and fruits all taste good. There’s also an a la carte menu, where you can order different eggs with belongings.
Except breakfast we also had our first lunch here. We choose the 2-course set menu recommended by the chef. One starter and one main course. For starters, we got a tuna taco and the main course was a Thai shrimp salad with a spicy sauce on the side. To that a bottle of dry and cold white wine. A nice lunch on the terrace overlooking the skyline and sunny rooftops of Lisbon. You can’t ask for a much better lunch view than that. Service was top notch and we get the chance to try some different wines, before choosing the right one.
We loved Memmo Principe Real! One of our favorite rooftop hotels thus far. We felt at home directly and the vibe and interior was spot on. And most importantly for us – the roof terrace was very good. The view, the service, the atmosphere and location will make this one of the best terraces in Lisbon ahead.

We had a reservation at 7PM at the Nolen Rooftop Bar, which is located on the 14th floor of the newly constructed Courtyard San Diego in the Gaslamp District. When you step out on the terrace you will probably first notice (we for sure did) the very cool round table with a big fireplace in the middle. And probably think “just imagine hanging there one night with 10 of your best friends”. We did not get this table, suitable for a group larger than the four of us, but instead we got a great table at the edge of the terrace with really comfy sofa-chairs and great views over the city, Coronado Island/Bridge and the water.
The interior of the Nolen is very cool, everything feels very well thought out. The terrace is not that big but still feel spacious, and all though not all seats are at the edge you get a pretty good view of the city no matter where you are seated.
Our visit was at a weekday, and when we arrived the terrace was about half full. It did fill up with a larger crowd during our visit, but there was always some seats available. This helped create a really relaxed atmosphere, a feeling of “stay, enjoy the sunset, you’ve got time”.
We started of with a few drinks from the good selection of cocktails. Everyone was in Gin-mode, so it was gin with cucumber (Cucumber Gimlet), gin with honey & lemon (Bee’s Knees) and gin with blackberry (Blackberry Bramble). All of them really tasty and very nicely presented.
Then it was time to try some of the food, there is a bunch of different bites to choose from so it was not an easy pick. We went for Chili Glazed Meatballs, Short Rib Flatbread, Tuna Poke and Shrimp & Grits Cakes. And wow! As far as bites goes it doesn’t get much better than this. We Swedes know our meatballs, and these ones where absolutely fantastic. And the Flatbread was also amazing.
The food was actually so good that we felt the need to try something more, and went for some Beer Braised Slider. And we did not regret that for one second, super tasty!
Of course the food did not taste less good when the sun started to settle and we took the last bites to a beautiful sunset. You really get it perfect here. We got in the mood and ordered a Prosecco Brut & Rose just to enjoy it even more.
And that was that. But then that is also all you need for a great time. Siting there, relaxing, chatting, taking the sunset in, sipping on a drink. The Nolen is absolutely the perfect place for it.
Oh, and another cool thing is that you can watch the planes land and take off from San Diego airport from the rooftop.

Our great friend and rooftop reviewer, Oskar Norrman visited one of the best rooftop bars in Singapore last week. Lantern at Fullerton Bay Hotel, is located on the 8th floor just by Marina Bay. In Singapore, the 8th floor is very low for a rooftop, but Lantern has a superb view over Marina Bay Sands, the water and parts of the skyline.
The staff at Lantern had reserved a wonderful table in the corner of the terrace, overlooking Marina Bay Sands and the surroundings. Mighty and beautiful at the same time. We started off with some of Lanterns signature cocktails. First up Imperial Berry Mojito (rum, berries, mint and Champagne) and the Red Lantern (Tequila, watermelon, lemon and cucumber). Both were made to perfection and tasted very good. A nice way to start the dinner.
After the first drinks, we ordered some food. We decided to share some signature dishes from the dinner menu. Everything looked delicious but we managed to agree on the Singapore Chili Crab, the Mini Wagyu Burgers and the Cheesy Peking Duck pancakes. And to this, we ordered a second round of cocktails. A London Mandarin (Vodka or Gin, orange zest, lemon zest, lime zest, agave nectar and natural artesian water) and a Dark & Stormy (dark rum, citrus, ginger juice).
By the looks of the food when it was served, we knew we were in for a treat. Everything looked and tasted superb. Fantastic food. The Singapore Chili Crab (which is a signature dish here in Singapore) was served in a modern way, where the crab meat and chili sauce are served in a bun. Lantern have received a lot of credit for this and we can only agree with many other food reviewers – This was delicious! The Wagyu Burgers were super juicy and with a great taste. Same goes for the duck pancakes. Wonderful flavors combined in a perfect way. If you like good food served to perfection, this is the rooftop bar in Singapore to visit.
The atmosphere at Lantern is classic loungy, with some nice tunes in the background and lots of dinner and bar guests. Later in the evening the volume is a bit higher, but still very nice and not like a night club. If you’re only out for some drinks, you can drop by the bar and have some cocktails. There are some very good seats here to. Lanterns rooftop is also equipped with a big and luxurious rooftop pool (only available for the hotels guests), a perfect place to cool off in the Singapore tropical climate.
We can recommend Lantern to everyone that are traveling to, or live in Singapore. Book your table in advance and you will have an evening to remember, for a long time. Also, check out the other rooftop bars in Singapore.
