Room Mate Larios Hotel is a 4-star hotel in the heart of Malaga right in the middle of the main shopping street. The entrance is quite small and so is the lobby. But well inside the rooms you’ll feel the characteristics of this hotel chain.

Unfortunately, it was low season during our visit in Malaga. But winter time in southern Spain still means 20 degrees and sun. Despite this, we were the only ones up here on a Monday afternoon.
The best thing about this was that we could choose any seat we would like, and it also felt as we had a personal bartender making us the drinks. They had most classics on the menu, and we tried the mojito which tasted just as it should do. Cold and refreshing.
The décor of the terrace was quite simple with plastic chairs and tables. And, some sofas and bar stoles as well. The sofas where very comfortable and placed by the edge of the terrace. We can imagen the atmosphere up here on a sunny summer evening. There’re lot of seating’s available and the bar counter is very long and can fit a lot of people at the same time.
The view from here is amazing over the mountains and the city cathedral. Unfortunately, the sun sets on the other side of the building, which meant that the terrace lays in the shadow before sunset. It’s very nice to hear the city buzz from the shopping street below mixed with the lounge music from the speakers. Like a small oasis in the middle of the city.
If we begin with the rooms, they’re feel like classic hotel rooms from a 4-star hotel. The best thing was the spacious feeling and cozy French balconies. Malaga is famous for it’s Christmas lightning show on the big shopping street.
And we were lucky enough to get a room with a view over this famous street. Thousands of people had gathered to see the show and Christmas music from the city speakers created a great atmosphere.
The breakfast is a classic continental breakfast with coffee, bread, juices, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, fruit etc. The breakfast area on the second floor was very nice with views of the shopping street and piazza.
Otherwise the hotel felt very warm and welcoming. If you’re looking for a super fancy and luxurious hotel, this is not the place for you. This is a cozy and warm hotel with familiar and friendly service. We liked it a lot.
The location is as good as it can be right in the heart of Malaga. And the price tag is appealing to most travelers.
If you like cozy hotels with rooftop bars, Room Mate Larios Hotel is a great choice. During high season there’s a lot of people staying here, and the rooftop bar gets full quite fast during the warm summer months. When it’s low season you almost feel like you have the whole hotel and rooftop for yourself.
