CRU Champagne Bar – a new edition to the fantastic rooftop scene in Bangkok

Champagne, luxury, fantastic food, the best view in Bangkok and a nice party atmosphere. All this at the new CRU Champagne Bar on top of Centara Grand at Central World.

360-view of the terrace

We had been invited by the team behind CRU Champagne Bar to test the place out. Jemjira from the marketing team welcomed us just as we stepped out of the elevator and showed us up to the terrace. We talked a lot about the new Champagne Bar and Jemjira showed as around and introduced us to the bar crew. We had the luxury to come here 30 minutes before opening, which meant we had the whole terrace to ourselves in the beginning. Here we got the chance to try some fantastic signature cocktails and bar snacks. More about that later…

Now to the most impressive thing about this rooftop – the view! WOW! The 360-degree view from here is something extra. CRU Champagne Bar is located at one of the highest buildings in Bangkok which creates a stunning view all over the city. And when the sun sets, you’re in for a real treat. Get your cameras ready and you’ll have some of the best photos you can imagen. There are both nice lounge seats and our favorite seats (the bar) available for the guests.

As I mentioned we love to sit in the bar. We found two great seats here and ordered some drinks and snacks/bar bites. The signature cocktails up here are superb and served in a stylish and cool way. I took the “Bangkok Bellini” which contains Mandarin Absolut, mango pure, vanilla syrup, fresh ginger topped with Champagne and it was delicious. One of the best drinks I ever had. And Ida had the “Swallow’s Nest” with ELYX vodka, Cointreau, beetroot juice, pomegranate juice, passion fruit juice, lime juice and rosemary syrup. The drink was served in a bird cage and tasted fantastic. We also tried one glass of their own Champagne, “G.H. Mumm n.1 Pink Edition Extra Dry”, that can only be bought here. Lovely taste!

If the cocktails and drinks were delicious, so were the bar bites. Or how about fried seafood, steamed pork belly buns and foie gras with chicken Yakitori skewers. The most delicious bar bites we ever tried. If it wasn’t for the dinner we had planned the same evening, we would have ordered every snack on the menu. We sat here and enjoyed the magical views while eating and drinking some of the best things we ever had. This was a 10/10 rooftop experience. CRU Champagne bar has everything one can ask for from a perfect rooftop. 360 view, nice atmosphere, fast and attentive atmosphere, fantastic drinks and delicious bar bites. If you’re in Bangkok, this is a must visit!

Sunset over the Bangkok skyline from Three Sixty rooftop bar at Millennium Hilton

Drinks, snacks and sunset with a magical view and perfect atmosphere:

Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton

Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton is a rooftop bar with focus on creating the perfect harmony along with one of the best sunset views in Bangkok. When they also deliver in terms of food, drinks and service, you know that this is one of the best rooftops you can find in BKK. Here’s our story of our 3-hour visit.

Arriving at a rooftop bar in Bangkok around 5:30 PM is the perfect time. Lots of seats available, a little calmer atmosphere and right in time for the sunset. The Asian sunsets are very beautiful with the reddish sun and grand views. And this evening was no exception. When entering the terrace, we were shown to our seats. A smaller lounge sofa with a table with a fantastic view.

I ordered my favorite drink, the Aperol Spritz and Ida had a signature cocktail that are special for the Three Sixty bar. We were also quite hungry and decided to have some large snack plates. And the snacks were delicious. Typical Asian snacks in form of seafood and fresh vegetables. The plates were quite big and two plates was perfect for 2 persons.

After the snacks, we checked out the helipad located above the terrace. A nice view spot and a chance for some really nice pics. The sun was just setting, which created a beautiful light over the terrace and city of Bangkok. Three Sixty is one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok if you want to enjoy drinks in front of a beautiful sunset.

Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton

A couple of minutes after the sun had set, darkness fell over the terrace and created a little bit more of a party atmosphere. But still quite calm compared to many other rooftop bars in Bangkok. The night time view was also spectacular. We loved this rooftop and it’s the perfect place for some drinks with a view if you like harmony in a magical setting. Also, plus for great service and nice drinks. Book one of the sofas in advance to make sure to get most out of your visit here.

Lovely 360-degree view over Bangkok from Vertigo at Banyan Tree

4 course dinner with wine and a spectacular view over all of Bangkok:

We had been invited by the crew from Vertigo and Moon bar to enjoy a dinner at their fantastic rooftop, perched on the 61st floor of the luxurious 5-star hotel Banyan Tree. After two elevator tours, we reach the rooftop and where meet by breathtaking 360 degree views over Bangkok. Nothing for the ones who are afraid of heights.

Vertigo & Moon Bar

We were shown to our table by our host of the evening, Tauch. A very warm welcome and nice addition to the dinner. Tauch took care of us the whole evening and we had some funny and nice conversations with him the whole time. We had planned for a 4-course set dinner with the wine package. For starters, a tuna ceviche with avocado. And wow! It was super yummie and made to perfection.

Vertigo & Moon Bar
Vertigo & Moon Bar

The second dish was a mushroom soup seasoned with truffles and for main course we had one fish and one lamb. We shared everything like we always do. My favorite was the ceviche followed by the lamb. And regarding drinks the red wine was top notch. Fantastic taste and perfect to the lamb.

Vertigo & Moon Bar
Vertigo & Moon Bar

For dessert we had a classic Tiramisu with coffee and a glass of port wine. The food, wine, cocktails and service was superb. But the best thing about Vertigo & Moon Bar is the breathtaking 360-degree view over Bangkok. Majestic and beautiful at the same time. Book your table in advance and you’ll in for a dinner to remember for the rest of your life!

Dinner and drinks at Above Eleven during Songkran Festival in Bangkok

Tasty food, nice service, spectacular views and a very nice party atmosphere:

Above Eleven - Bangkok #theta360 - Spherical Image - RICOH THETA
360-view of the terrace

Above Eleven in Bangkok was one of the first rooftop bars we planned to visit during our stay in Bangkok. We have only heard good things about this rooftop and that the party atmosphere was supposed to be very good. Perfect for a Friday dinner with some drinks. We booked a table for dinner at 20:00 arrived just in time.

Above Eleven

Upon arrival, we were well received by the staff and especially Jean Yves that took care of us in a very good way. Jean showed us to our table in the corner of the terrace overlooking the mighty skyline and surrounding skyscrapers. Probably the best table at Above Eleven, if you want the best possible view. Jean presented the menu for us and told us a lot about Above Eleven and what’s so special about them. He was a super nice and showed us what great service is all about. With some advice from Jean we ordered some of the signature cocktails and dishes for our dinner. The kitchen at Above Eleven is a fusion between the Peruvian and Japanese cuisine.

Above Eleven
Above Eleven
Above Eleven

First, we got our cocktails and starters. Refreshing and tasty drinks and the starters were super good as well. A ceviche with Seabass, Prawns, Deep Fried Calamari, Sweet Potatoes & Red Chili Leche De Tigre. And we also got a platter of three different delicious sashimi’s and one signature platter of some of the chefs own choice. The starters are always our favorites and it was no exception this time either.

Above Eleven
Above Eleven

Now it was time for the main courses. One plate of fish and one with spicy meat. We shared everything and where both happy with the choices we made. Above Eleven is very price worthy compared to many other rooftop bars in Bangkok that have very expensive prices for less good food and drinks. In other words, Above Eleven is a perfect rooftop bar in Bangkok if you don’t want to spend a fortune but still get the mighty views and luxurious feeling of being on top of the city. This is also a perfect spot if you like to party. The venue turns into a very good party place in the evening and night and the DJ is playing some nice tunes to keep the atmosphere as good as it can get.

Above Eleven

Oh, I forgot to mention that we also had a delicious dessert. A chocolate cheesecake and a bowl of coffee mousse. A perfect ending to a perfect night. We really recommend Above Eleven to all that loves to dine, drink and party with a view, and at the same time feel it was worth every penny! For more information check out Above Eleven here. Visiting Distil rooftop bar at Lebua State Tower in Bangkok

Premium views, magical sunset and delicious cocktails at the rooftop bar Distil in Bangkok:

Distil rooftop bar - Bangkok #theta360 - Spherical Image - RICOH THETA
360-view of the terrace

The highest rooftop bar in Bangkok was also the first one we tried out. Distil is perched on the 64th floor of the famous Lebua State Tower. Distil is not as well-known as the other rooftop bars at Lebua - Sirocco and Sky Bar. But for us, Distil is by far the best one you can find in this building.

Distil rooftop bar

We arrived around 17:15 to be able to enjoy the sunset and evening breeze up here. It was a good decision as we got a perfect spot in the comfortable lounge sofas surrounding almost the whole terrace. 20 minutes later the terrace was full of people drinking cocktails and eating snacks to the beautiful views of Bangkok.

Sneak premiere and the official premiere of Tak Stockholm

21 March, the time had come, it was finally time for the premiere of what looks to be Scandinavia's coolest rooftop bar. Tak Stockholm is perched on the 14th floor between the two Nordic Choice Hotels, At Six and Hobo. We had been invited by Olivia to attend at both the sneak premiere and the official opening day.

Tak Stockholm
Evening view from the terrace

Once there, we were welcomed by the staff in the elevator who showed us up to the 14th floor. And the views that met us on the terrace were fantastic. Stunning 360-degree views over Stockholm. Despite the fact that the terrace is not completely finished yet, we got a feeling of how mighty this will be. The roof terrace is expected to be completed in May, so the premiere was for the sky bar and its restaurant.

The place is inspired by both the Nordic countries and Japan. And it shows in both the drinks, food and decor. The small canapés were lovely. The Swedish delicacy “löjrom” and the Asian tartar was really nice. So good that we ate 5pcs of the mini tartar . If the food was good, the drinks were of the same quality. Unfortunately, we forgot to ask what the drink contained, but it was super nice. And so was the Saké.

Food and drinks in all honor, but most importantly for us rooftop enthusiasts are still the view and the atmosphere. And there was nothing to complain about there either. We have already mentioned the breathtaking view. It’s hard too believe that there is a much better view to enjoy in our capital. And same for the atmosphere. A live DJ played some nice tunes and a little later the well-known band Blacknuss put on a great performance. What we especially liked was that there are areas for both a calmer atmosphere in the comfortable lounge sofas, nice chill out at the long and big bar counter and a little more party nearby the scene and the DJ booth. In other words, there is something for everyone here. The sneak premiere was a success and it bodes well for future events that will take place here.

Tak Stockholm
Tasty drink

The doors to Tak Stockholm opened on Match 23rd and of course we came here to check out the potential of the terrace even more. We arrived at 5 PM to experience everything in daylight. In the afternoon sunshine, you got a magical view over Stockholm and its beautiful surroundnings. People stood and enjoyed themselves at the terrace, while sipping on beer and cocktails - although the terrace is not finished yet. For those waiting for the roof terrace, the project is planned to be finished in May. Something we really look forward to!

Two days at the hotel Clarion Sign and their lovely rooftop pool

One of Sweden’s only winter open roof terraces - Clarion Sign in Stockholm:

Being able to swim in a rooftop swimming pool overlooking Stockholm's rooftops has always been something we looked forward to. To be able to do it in a heated pool in sub-zero temperatures made things even better.

Rooftop pool Clarion Sign in Stockholm
0 degrees in the air, 33 in the air

Saturday was finally here and we checked into the Clarion around 3 o'clock, to get the most out of our visit as possible. During check in, we’re upgraded to a superior room with a lovely view of Norra Bantorget and its surroundings. A nice gesture by the attentive and friendly staff. We threw in our bags, checked out the room and changed directly into swimwear. Time to enjoy ourselfs in the spa area.

Rooftop pool Clarion Sign in Stockholm
Lovely view from the room

Selma City Spa has both a sauna, treatments, a heated rooftop pool, a bar and a small food menu. In other words - most of what you need for a successful spa visit. We ordered two glass of Champagne and went straight to the rooftop pool, which was our primary focus. The thermometer stood at 0 degrees in the air and 35 in the water, so it was great to jump into the hot water while we drank our Champagne and looked out over the area Kungsholmen and the snow-covered rooftops.

After about 30-45 minutes we went back into the bar and ordered some side dishes, to satisfy our hunger. Tasty food and a good complement after the bath. After the food, we took a last sauna and then down to our room again. A good ending to a few pleasant hours.

It was quite crowded on the roof terrace during the afternoon and evening, so we set our alarm at 8:30 to get some alone time at the pool. And it was a good idea. The first fifteen minutes we got the roof terrace all to ourselves, which was very nice. So, if you want some time for yourself on the terrace, it's recommended to come here in early mornings or weekdays when there is a little less crowded on the roof.

Since it is not directly teeming with rooftop swimming pools in either Stockholm or Sweden, this is one of the best you can find. It is also open all year-round, which makes it even better. For non-guests at the hotel, you can pay the entrance fee from around $50 to make use of the SPA-area and rooftop pool. Well worth every penny, if you ask us.

Rooftop pool at Park Regis kris Kin

Breathtaking skyline view from the rooftop pool at Park Regis Kris Kin in Dubai.

During our visit in Dubai, we choose to stay at the 5-star hotel Park Regis Kris Kin, because of their superb looking rooftop pool and skyline view. The hotel is located in north Dubai in the old parts of the city.

The first morning we decided to take a morning dip in the rooftop swimming pool. The temperature in the water was quite cold. Around 20 degrees. Nothing for us Swedes to complain about. The views from here are amazing. Majestic skyline views over Downtown Dubai and sea view to west.

Park Regis Kris Kin was a nice hotel. The downside was the location which was a little bit from the city center and also the standard didn’t feel like a five star hotel. Otherwise the rooms where big and the price, rooftop pool and view the best things about this place.

Ocean views, great atmosphere and a very sweet cocktail at Pure Sky Lounge

PURE Sky Lounge - Dubai - Spherical Image - RICOH THETA
360 view of the terrace

We had a table at 8PM on Pure Sky Lounge at Hilton and thought that we arrived in perfect time a couple of minutes before 8. We went inside and took the elevator to the top floor, but there seemed to be a whole lot of hotel rooms and not a sign to any rooftop bar. A bit worrying...Down to the reception and they pointed to the elevators at the other end of the building. Went over there and asked again, got pointed to a third direction. When we didn’t find any elevators there at all we had to ask again and now we got the answer that we were at the wrong Hilton building. Not too much of a problem though since the right one was just across the street.

Up on the 35th floor we got a table in the corner with great views over the ocean and the Palm Island. Since it was quite late it was already dark and we can imagine these views being even better at day or with a sunset.

Rooftop PURE Sky Lounge in Dubai
View over the ocean and Palm Island

We started out with some cocktails from the really nice cocktail list. Two signature ones (Cucumber Moscow Mule and Cuba Gratis) and one from the Candy Shop (Salted Caramel Martini). The signature ones were really nice but the Salted Caramel Martini was too sweet for us, really tasted like candy. But all drinks were very well made and with a nice and cool mix too choose from. A nice touch was also that we got some popcorns while waiting for the food.

Rooftop PURE Sky Lounge in Dubai
Moscow Mule with a shot of bubbles and some popcorn

Since we were not extremely hungry we ordered the PURE Sharing Board, which included Chicken in sugar cane, Golden vegetable spring roll, Prawn & Portobello mushroom tempura and Wagyu vs. Chicken burger & chips. Since we like our burgers we made sure to order in some extra of these. The food was nice, not spectacular but perfect as bites to the drinks.

The staff was really nice and took really good care of us and we got a chat with the bar manager who also showed us the second terrace, which is on the other side of the building. Quite similar to the one we were at but a bit larger and more for restaurant guests.

The terrace is equipped with some really nice lounge sofas and there was a DJ keeping the atmosphere on top. At the bar inside they also have an impressive collection of Absolut Vodka bottles.

If you get the chance we would recommend a visit to PURE during the day or at sunset just to get the most of the ocean views. But otherwise it’s also a great spot for some nice cocktails in a soft and enjoyable atmosphere.

Amazing lamb rack and stormy weathers at Atelier M in Dubai

After spending the day at the golf course where play was canceled due to sandstorms, it wasn’t a great surprise that when we arrived at Atelier M they told us that the rooftop was unfortunately closed this night. Real bummer of course, but not much to do anything about. It turned out to be a great night anyway!

Rooftop Atelier M in Dubai Marina
The rooftop that we missed out on due to sandstorm

Atelier M is located on the top levels of the Pier 7 building in Dubai Marina. Each level in the building houses a different restaurant and/or bar. Atelier M have the top three floors with restaurant on the 7th floor, the lounge one floor above and then rooftop bar on the top.

Rooftop Atelier M in Dubai Marina
Heading to the top floor

When we arrived at the lounge-floor we were greeted by Pedro who would take care of us during the night. And he really did so with style. Super friendly from the get go and made sure we had everything we needed. Great service and our hats off to Pedro!

We got one of the tables by the window in the big circular lounge, which also has tables more towards the middle and in the middle a big bar. Every Friday they serve a sunset brunch between 6-10PM, and this was the one we went for. Due to the weather we did not get much of the sunset, but a lot of everything else.

Rooftop Atelier M in Dubai Marina
Comfy sofas

The brunch is kind of buffet style but served at the table as cold starters, warm dishes and dessert. To this we could choose from beer, house wine and a couple of different spirits. We started with some red wine to the starters which where sushi, couscous sallad and a nice plate with different cheese and cold cuts.

Rooftop Atelier M in Dubai Marina
Cold starters

But the real highlight was the main course, and especially the lamb racks that were to die for! Needless to say we ordered a couple of extra rounds of these. Other than that there were some nice beef tacos, grilled chicken, shrimps and fries.

Rooftop Atelier M in Dubai Marina
Enjoyng beef taco and lamb racks

For dessert there were some cakes and a fudge brownie and we changed drinks from wine to gin and tonic. As time passed the atmosphere started to change from really soft lounge to a bit more party, more people started to arrive and some tables were moved to create a dancefloor. We took the chance to play some pool at one of the pool tables, ordered some more drinks (switched between Gin & Tonic and Red Bull Vodka, classics) before calling it a night.

Rooftop Atelier M in Dubai Marina
Shooting some pool

All in all we had a great time at Atelier M and can really recommend a visit for the sunset brunch or just for a drink. We would love to come back and get a chance to visit the rooftop, a glance through the windows told us that the view over Dubai Marina is great, and at sunset probably quite spectacular. The only thing we didn’t really get was the big screen covering one of the windows and showing music videos but playing different music through the speakers.

World class sushi and skyline views at Tomo rooftop

Our last night in Dubai we spent at Tomo, which is both a rooftop bar but also a fantastic and classy Japanese restaurant.

Tomo Rooftop Bar - Dubai #theta360 - Spherical Image - RICOH THETA
360-view of the terrace

Tomo is located in the old part of Dubai, high up on the pyramid shaped Raffles Hotel. We had a table booked on the terrace at 7PM so when we arrived it was already dark. Unfortuneatly this meant we missed out on an amazing sunset, but instead we got some fantastic night time views of the “new” Dubai skyline. It's really cool to watch the iconic skyline in lights from a distance.

Rooftop Tomo in Dubai

We were very friendly greeted upon arrival and shown to our table on the terrace, a perfect spot in some really comfy sofas. First up was a cocktail and we decided to go for their own signature cocktail. Actually not sure what it was called, but it was passion fruit and champagne and it was absolutely delicious!

Rooftop Tomo in Dubai
Hasse and Erik with the signature cocktail

Since we were not extremely hungry we decided to share some different sushi, both tempura and california maki rolls, some sashimi and one special fatty tuna. The food was very nicely presented and tasted really good. Especially the salmon sashimi. To the food we also ordered some Japanese beers.

Rooftop Tomo in Dubai
Yummy sushi

If you are not in the mood for sushi the food menu is filled with other stuff like steaks, sallads, noodles or fish.

The feeling up here is that everything is of really nice quality. The decoration of the terrace is really classy, and then the view as well of course. And the service we recived was great and our waitresses took really good care of us, making sure we had everything we needed, friendly, attentive, happy to take a photo or even be in one :)

The biggest and best rooftop pool in Dubai!

We had a blast at The Address Dubai Marina with breathtaking views, tasty cocktails, fantastic food, great hospitality and the coolest infinity pool in Dubai.

The Adress Dubai Marina - Spherical Image - RICOH THETA
360 view of the terrace

After a good contact with Aafrin at The Address Hotel, we decided to come here at 6:00 PM so that we could enjoy both the daylight, sunset and darkness. Aafrin reserved a really good table for us at the terrace right by the infinity pool, with views among all the skyscrapers that surrounds the marina. This is probably the best view you can get from a rooftop bar located at the 4th floor. The Address Dubai Marina is a 5-star luxurious hotel right in the middle of the marina. One of the best hotels in Dubai, according to many. And we’re about to agree.

Shades at The Address Dubai Marina

Right after we sat down, we were treated with three super good cocktails. Two strawberry daiquiri and one mojito. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring our swim shorts. But people were swimming and enjoying the rooftop pool as we sat and drank on our refreshing cocktails. As a non-guest of the hotel, you can use the pool area if you pay a smaller fee. Well worth every penny if you like to swim with a mighty view. The rooftop pool was also heated to 28 degrees, making it nice to swim here in the early evenings as well.

The Restaurant Manager, Mohit from The Address Hotel met up with us and showed us around the whole area and telling us about the hotel and their rooftop called Shades. Mohit was a super nice guy that really showed us what service is all about. After the small tour around the rooftop, Mohit prepared us some more signature cocktails and also a plate of the finest food the restaurant had to offer.

Shades at The Address Dubai Marina

The plate consisted in fine meat, chicken, fish, lamb, cheese, vegetables and tasty sauces. We all agreed that this was by far the best food of the whole trip and even some of the best food we had ever tasted. Everything was made fresh directly from the kitchen and BBQ located at the terrace. If you visit this rooftop bar, you MUST try the food. Super delicious!

We also got the chance to chat a little with the General Manager, Jeroen Elmendorp which was a very nice and a fine gesture from the hotel. We talked a little about us and what we do and how we can help rooftops and hotels to gain more guests and visitors.

After the food and the meeting, we ordered a last round of cocktails and just sat and enjoyed the atmosphere and the view while sipping our drinks. The best thing about rooftops. Relaxation, nice food, tasty drinks, awesome view, attentive service and a harmonious atmosphere. The Address Dubai Marina had it all.

5 hours of drinks, food and magnificent views at Level 43 Sky Lounge

A long and fantastic evening at one of the coolest rooftop bars in Dubai – Level 43 Sky Lounge.

Level 43 Sky Lounge in Dubai

Level 43 Sky Lounge was one of the first rooftop bars we decided to visit in Dubai. The crew from Level 43 and the hotel Four Points, had set up a super nice table at the corner of the terrace for us. As we had heard that the sunset from hear was supposed to be something special, we had the table from 5:30 PM. In this way we would get both daylight, sunset and darkness.

The seats were located in the corner of the terrace, overlooking the mighty skyline in one direction and the ocean in the other. The skyline view from here is really impressive, with the world’s highest building, Burj Khalifa rising up in the sky. And out over the ocean we saw the sun set in a majestic way. This is probably the best view you can get in all of Dubai.

Enough about the view, now over to the drinks and food. A favorite drink for The Rooftop Guide crew has always been the Aperol Spritz. And that’s what we started out with. It was as good as it’s always is. Refreshing in every way. To the drinks we ordered some lobster burgers with fries and dip sauces. The first time I ever had a lobster burger, and it tasted very good. After the food we decided for some coffee drinks, and what is better for that, than the Espresso Martini.

The atmosphere on the terrace was super nice, with a live DJ playing modern party tunes as people sat and enjoyed the view and the drinks. We had a fantastic evening here that began at 5:30 PM and ended around 11:00 PM. Over 5 hours of cocktails, food and magical views. We also have to give credit to the amazing staff that held a high service level throughout the whole evening. Fast and attentive service from everybody. Great work!

A fantastic day at the luxurious rooftop infinity pool at Capri by Fraser in Kuala Lumpur!

Private rooftop Jacuzzis, relaxation and a magical infinity pool with a superb skyline view over Kuala Lumpur. Read about it here:

Capri by Fraser in Kuala Lumpur

We had been invited to spend a whole day at this relatively newly opened 5-star hotel, by the Marketing Communication Manager, Sharifah Laila. Capri by Fraser’s rooftop is a very big and luxurious place with both a large rooftop infinity pool, private rooftop Jacuzzis, sun loungers, a rooftop bar and a spa. We arrived at the terrace at noon and were very well received by the staff that showed us up on the terrace directly.

Well up on the rooftop, we were stunned by the fantastic 360 degree view and how far you can see from here. Capri by Fraser is located in a business district a little bit outside of the city center, which means you’ll get a completely different view from here than from any other rooftop bar in Kuala Lumpur. After we had taken some photos and checked out the terrace we changed to our swimming clothes and found two super comfy sun loungers to chill down in. The perfect way to enjoy a whole day at a rooftop.

The weather was quite good with both sunshine and some clouds. Perfect conditions for a swim in the pool. We swam and relaxed in the pool for about 30 minutes before heading up to the second rooftop where they have 5 private rooftop Jacuzzis – or jet pools as they are called here. We were all alone up here which meant we could choose which Jacuzzi we wanted. Relaxing in a Jacuzzi at this height and outside, was a very nice and luxurious experience. It really gave you a feeling of being on top of the world.

The rest of the afternoon we enjoyed in the sun loungers and the infinity pool while sipping on some refreshing coffee drinks in the heat. The terrace had a relaxed and chilled atmosphere during the whole day. In the evenings, a more lively and party friendly feeling takes over up here.

Luxurious rooftop pool and premium views over the Kuala Lumpur skyline!

A rooftop perfect for both morning, midday and evening activities. How about workout, swimming, sauna, relaxing, drinking, eating and partying:

SkyBar at Traders in Kuala Lumpur

Upon arrival at the 5-star hotel Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, we got our room upgraded to the highest floor with a superb view over the Petronas Twin Towers. A very nice gesture from the check-in crew. They also had prepared some delicious cakes waiting for us at the room. I very nice start to our 2 days stay here.

Well up in the room we’re met by fantastic views and a very nice room. We’re quite tired after lots of traveling, so we decided to order some room service for lunch. They had a quite big menu with lots of nice stuff to choose from.

After the lunch, we took a nap before our scheduled meeting at the rooftop bar at 6:00 PM. We had booked one of the lounge areas right by the windows, to get as good view as possible. This rooftop bar in only opened aired right over the swimming pool, which was lucky for us, because it rained the whole evening.

Nice seatings at the windows.

We ordered two rounds of their signature cocktails while gazing out over the Kuala Lumpur skyline. At 7:00 PM the rooftop pool closed and a party atmosphere started to surround the whole rooftop. They played a lot of party tunes from classic Swedish artists as Dr Alban, ABBA and Björn Skifs, which both surprised us and made us happy because of our Swedish roots.

The next day we decided to take a morning swim in the rooftop pool. A nice tradition during our travels. We went up to the spa and swimming pool at 8:00 AM and we were almost by our self’s up here. We swam for about 20 minutes before heading up to the rooftop sauna. A perfect start of the day.

We liked everything about this rooftop. Maybe it could have been more of an “outdoor felling” to it, but it didn’t bother us that much. The view was amazing and so was the rooftop pool and atmosphere. Make sure to book table in advance if you’d like to sit right next to the windows. And if you want to use the swimming pool you must be a guest at the hotel. Well worth every penny.

Evening cocktails and pizza at the highest rooftop bar in Kuala Lumpur – Marini’s on 57!

Dinner with a view on a rainy evening:

Not many places in Kuala Lumpur can boost with such amazing view and proximity to the Petronas Twin Towers as Marini’s on 57. Marini’s on 57 is a luxurious rooftop bar with a fantastic party atmosphere. You’ll also find a superb Italian restaurant up here, where they serve fantastic Italian food. We choose to stick with the bar and cocktail menu this time.

Marini's on 57 in Kuala Lumpur
The Petronas Twin Towers close to the roof terrace.

First of all, you need to dress to impress to feel at home here. Well up on the terrace you’ll be stunned by the amazing skyline views and the high altitude. The most impressive thing here, is the proximity to the Twin Towers. From the corners of the terrace (which are the only ones that are open aired) you get a mighty view right next to the towers. Lots of people take cool pictures here, and so did we :).

Marini's on 57 in Kuala Lumpur

After we had checked out every part of the terrace we sat down and ordered some cocktails and pizza. The service was fast and attentive. We got our drinks right away and the pizzas came shortly after. We liked both the cocktails and the food. Just what we needed after a long day in the city.

The weather was unfortunately quite cloudy and it rained most of the time when we were here. Lucky us that most of this rooftop bar is under a ceiling. Marini’s on 57 was a really nice experience among rooftop bars in Kuala Lumpur. If you like luxury, tasty food, fast service and to party with a view – this is a perfect rooftop. We heard from some friends that the New Year’s party here was something extra, with premium view over all the fireworks and a fantastic party atmosphere.

Marini's on 57 in Kuala Lumpur

We like to thank all the staff at Marini’s on 57 for a nice couple of hours at their rooftop bar, and we’ll for sure be back here next time we visit KL. Here you’ll find some more info about Marini’s on 57 rooftop bar, and how to book a table, opening hours, pictures and much more.

Dinner in the sky with premium food and skyline view!

Troika Sky Dining in Kuala Lumpur

Delicious South American tapas at the rooftop restaurant Fuego at Troika sky dining:

We had heard a lot about Fuego before we came to KL. The table was reserved at 6:30 PM to get both daylight, sunset and darkness. It’s always a magical time when the skyscrapers in the big cities start to light up when darkness falls on.

Fuego is a South American tapas restaurant with lots of nice twists and mix between the Asian and South American kitchen. We decided to try some of their signature dishes along with some cocktails and beers. Everything tasted very nice and the service was both attentive and fast.

Luxury rooms and stunning rooftop pool at The Face Suites in Kuala Lumpur

The Face Suites in Kuala Lumpur
Sunrise at the rooftop pool

It was time to try some rooftops in Kuala Lumpur. As with many other big Asian cities, there is a very good choice of luxurious and cool rooftop bars in KL. Our first three nights we decided to spend at the 5-star apartment hotel The Face Suites. Most thanks to their fabulous rooftop pool, but also for the affordable price and the large and luxurious rooms.

Here we housed on 97kvm for under 100$/night. Super price and really good room with all that implies.

The Face Suites in Kuala Lumpur
View from the bed room

We arrived after midnight, so the only thing we did the first night was checking out the room and then directly to bed. The alarm was set at 7:00 AM to take a morning swim at sunrise in the rooftop pool. And what a morning it was. Calm wind and sun over the city skyline with the Petronas Twin Towers as a powerful background. The two-hour morning swim was one of the best we have ever had, together with the one at Marina Bay Sands.

The pool is open from early morning to late evening, so it was a routine with both morning and evening swims for us. Fine start and end of each day. Apart from the amazing rooftop pool, the rooms were very good too. We stayed at 97kvm with a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, large living room and a large bedroom with the same view as from the rooftop pool.

Otherwise, it should be added that they are building a new rooftop bar. In 2017, The Face Suites will able to boast an impressive rooftop restaurant and bar with an absolutely breathtaking view of the central parts of Kuala Lumpur.

Rooftop bar of the month, November 2016 - SKYE in Hong Kong!

Good service, grand views and comfortable seating’s on the rooftop bar SKYE in Hong Kong:

Rooftop bar Hong Kong

SKYE is a newly opened rooftop bar located at the luxurious hotel The Park Lane Hong Kong in the middle of the area Waan chai. Formerly known as the rooftop bar Riva and The Deck but it was recently changed with a totally new concept and appearance. We visited the place in October to take a closer look. And we were not disappointed...

Judging by the images seen from the rooftop bar it looks absolutely magical. And it was with great expectations we went here with. Straight away after you get off the elevator you feel like it will be a really nice roof terrace. You’ll be well treated directly and the show you out to the terrace. There are both lots of lounge seats, and even a large circular bar with many seats in. For those who want to stay in the shade it can also be solved. Partly under roof in close proximity to the bar or in the lounge sofas in the end of the terrace.

Rooftop bar Hong Kong

The service at the rooftop bar is attentive and quick. And here you’ll find lots of different spirits to choose from. They like to mix depending on your needs. The only down point was that they did not have Aperol - which is our favorite kind of spirit. The beer is served in the large beer glass which fits perfectly in the hot Asian climate. For those who are hungry, you can order good French food to enjoy along with your drinks. They also serves light snacks for those who just want to drink.

But the best thing here is the amazing view. Magnificent panoramic views across Kowloon and parts of Hong Kong City to the sides. This is a perfect rooftop bar for those who like to take a few drinks before their dinner or party. Best time to come here is between 14:00 to 20:00. Then you also get to experience the sunset as well as when Hong Kong is lit up in the powerful neon lights and the whole city turns into an impressive light spectacle.

Rooftop bar Hong Kong

SKYE meets all the requirements to qualify as a Rooftop bar of the month. Here you get a fantastic view, fast service, good drinks, tasty food and a really nice atmosphere. Here you can see more info, booking links etc. for the rooftop bar SKYE. And here you can find other rooftop bars in Hong Kong.

Dinner in the sky!

"The sky is the limit" is a famous say. But not anymore.

The idea was founded in 2006 by two Belgian entrepreneurs who had a childhood dream to be able to dine up the air. Their dream is now available in over 45 countries around the world. From the day everything started, they have organized over 5,000 dinners up in the air. Where each event has been unique. Or what about a Michelin chefs who cooked food in Monaco, poker tournament in Jerez with snacks, a beach bar in the sky, opera in the sky in London and an Internet cafe in Las Vegas. The concepts changed and here you can experience most things at a high altitude.

Sky dinner

The whole thing has been observed in a variety of major media companies and sky dinners have been arranged at some of the coolest places on earth. Or what about on The Strip in Las Vegas, Copacapana in Rio, Dubai Marina, among the historical relics in Rome, in Cape Town and in many more places.

There are two words that control the whole concept. Exclusivity and Safety. Customers can participate to determine what should be done in the air. Business meetings, dinner, concert, etc. It's all about exclusivity. In collaboration with its partners around the world, they do everything to have the best possible security at all its events.

Innovation is also one of the key words. Here, customers can decide what dreams they want to experience. New ideas are hatched all the time and the concept develops at regular basis. But still the most popular thing to do is to eat and drink up here. Being able to take a glass of Champagne with good friends high up in the air while looking out over the magnificent views are something most people dream about.

Sky dinner

Here you can read more about Dinner in the Sky.

How cool than the concept sounds we rather prefer a mighty rooftop bar where you have the freedom to move around how you want. And how do you do, for example, if you need to go to the bathroom in the air?

5 roof terraces we visited in Hong Kong!

The roof terrace Seafood Room in Hong Kong

One of the first rooftops we visited during our trip to Hong Kong was the Seafood Room. Seafood Room is a luxurious fish and seafood restaurant located in Wan Chai. We arrived quite early in the day around 13.00 so it was just us and another company on the entire terrace, which resulted in that we got hold of a really nice sitting area with views of Victoria Harbour, Kowloon and its skyline. We directly ordered some beers and some strong chili nuts. The beer, the view and the atmosphere on the rooftop was really good and we could easily sit here all day if we had had the time. After about 45min however, we were forced to move on to the next rooftop bar.

The roof terrace SKYE in Hong Kong

A magical rooftop bar which have most things you can expect from a perfect roof terrace. Once up on the roof terrace, we were shown to a lounge area with comfortable sofas and great views. We continued on the path of beer, which was a good decision in the scorching sun. The view one gets from SKYE is absolutely stunning. Magnificent views of Victoria Harbour and the entire skyline. We tested some different seatings on the terrace, both in the lounge area, the bar and in the shade. After two beers, some water and snacks, it was time to move to the next rooftop bar where we had booked a table at 16:00.

The roof terrace S E V V A in Hong Kong

S E V V A is a famous rooftop bar in Hong Kong who often figures in various article and top lists. Here we had reserved the best table on the entire terrace with help from the crew at S E V V A. Once we came, however, some problems arosed when they didn’t allow shorts for guys. One person in our party had shorts and first they would not let us in. After some persuasion we got a blanket to obscure the bare legs. Quite ridiculous, I think, but we had to adapt to the rules. The lounge area we got was absolutely magical in the corner of the terrace with views of both Victoria Harbour, Kowloon and the nearby skyscrapers. Really impressive! Here we ordered in various different Asian dishes and lots of beers. Unfortunately, the service was pretty non-existent and quite slow, but we forgot it quite quickly because the view and the nice atmosphere on the terrace was outstanding. 3 hours later, it was time to move on to the hotel.

The roof terrace Eyebar in Hong Kong

A fairly small and simple roof terrace that we chose to visit after our Champagne Brunch. Mainly because they get Hong Kong's coolest skyline views from here. We had timed the visit perfect to get both daylight, dusk and darkness of the night, resulting in lots of cool pictures. Hong Kong is best looking just at dusk when the city turns into a beautiful color spectacle when all the skyscrapers light up.

The roof terrace Tott's and Roof Terrace in Hong Kong

Unfortunately, we had booked a table for lunch here already our first day in HK. A day when the typhoon Haima struck the city, which meant that you could not stay outdoors. However, we could enjoy a good lunch in the sky bar with roof above our heads and views of Victoria Harbour. The lunch consisted of appetizer buffet, dessert buffet and oysters. Everything of very good quality and it was with full and satisfied stomachs, we went further to play some pool the remaining hours of the afternoon.
